Terms of Use

Last updated 26 July 2026

1. Who provides the app

Let It Be Known is operated by Everyday Arc Ltd. The Department of Small Matters is the ceremonial identity presented within Let It Be Known. It is not a government body, authority or public office. References to "we", "us" and "our" mean Everyday Arc Ltd.

These terms govern use of Let It Be Known. By using the app, the claimant agrees to them. If a person does not agree, they should not use the app.

2. What Let It Be Known provides

Let It Be Known receives small everyday matters and, where a matter is suitable for filing, prepares a ceremonial certificate and enters it on the record.

Certificates, notices, standings and other Instruments of Record have no legal force. They are not findings of fact, evidence, official decisions or professional advice. Let It Be Known is not a court, regulator, dispute-resolution service, medical service, counselling service or crisis service. Use of the app creates no legal relationship with any person mentioned in a matter.

3. Eligibility and accounts

A person must be at least 13 years old to use Let It Be Known. A person opening or securing a new file must truthfully confirm that they are 13 or over.

The app may be used with an anonymous file. An anonymous file is tied to the app installation and may be lost if the app is removed, the device is lost or its data is cleared. A claimant can secure a file with email and password, Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. An email-and-password file must be verified before a matter can be filed.

The claimant is responsible for keeping sign-in credentials secure and for activity on the file. A person must not access another claimant's file or attempt to bypass security, filing limits, moderation or other safeguards.

4. Presenting a matter

A claimant must present a matter honestly and must have the right to submit the words and information included. The claimant should include only information needed for the matter and should not present another person's private information without a proper reason and lawful basis.

The app uses a local urgent-phrase check and, with the claimant's explicit permission, Anthropic's AI systems to classify and route a matter, prepare an accepted certificate and review every generated certificate for publication safety. This processing is required to present a matter and receive a certificate. Permission can be turned off in Department Records; while it is off, the rest of the service remains available but no matter can be presented. The Privacy Policy explains the processing in full.

The automated route may:

A serious circumstance mentioned only as background to an ordinary small grievance may still be filed. A route or refusal is only a decision about this app's ceremonial scope. It is not a judgement about the claimant, a legal finding or a medical assessment.

Repeated submissions that are independently classified as prohibited may cause a temporary filing pause. Technical failures, uncertain results and welfare routes do not count as prohibited attempts. Where the app offers a correspondence route about a decision, the claimant may use it, but we do not promise that every classification will be reversed.

5. The record and public inspection

A filed certificate remains on the claimant's record whether the file is private or public, unless it is later deleted or removed under these terms.

Visibility applies to the whole file, not to one certificate at a time. When a file is open to public inspection, eligible certificates may appear on the Bulletin, in the Registry and in featured areas. A certificate withheld by publication-safety or moderation review remains private. When the file is restricted, its certificates remain visible to the claimant but are removed from public views.

Before a file is first opened publicly, the app asks the claimant to confirm a short public-filing notice and content policy. The full rules are in these terms. A claimant can review and change the file setting in Department Records.

6. Public-content rules

A claimant must not submit, publish or attempt to publish content that:

We may refuse a submission, withhold or remove a public certificate, limit interactions, suspend a file or close an account where reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect people, investigate misuse or comply with law. A publication decision is not an endorsement of every statement or allegation in a certificate.

7. Ownership and permission to publish

The claimant keeps ownership of original words they submit, subject to any rights belonging to others. Everyday Arc owns or licenses the app, Department identity, layouts, templates, generated presentation, software and other service materials.

When a claimant opens a file to public inspection, the claimant gives Everyday Arc Ltd a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, display and distribute the public certificate within the app and in the app's own share export. This licence is limited to operating, securing, moderating and promoting the Let It Be Known service. It ends when the certificate is removed from public inspection or deleted, except for reasonable provider backups, security or moderation evidence, legal compliance and material already shared by the claimant or another user outside our control.

The claimant may download and share their own certificate for personal, non-commercial use, provided Department marks are not used to suggest legal authority, official endorsement or a service operated independently of Everyday Arc.

8. Reports, blocking and public interactions

Signed-in claimants, including anonymous claimants, may witness a public certificate, mark themselves likewise aggrieved, report it or block its claimant, subject to app limits.

Reports are recorded. Multiple reports may automatically withdraw a certificate from public inspection, and an authorised moderator may uphold or reverse a moderation action. We do not promise that every report receives an individual human response. Knowingly false, abusive or automated reporting may result in restrictions.

Blocking hides a claimant's public certificates from the person who applied the block. It does not remove those certificates for other users and does not notify the blocked claimant.

9. Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep the service available and records accurate, but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may maintain, suspend, change or discontinue a feature where reasonably necessary. Filing allocations, counters, standing criteria and forthcoming desks may change as the service develops. A desk described as being prepared is not a promise that it will open on a particular date.

If a filing fails before a certificate is created, the matter may need to be presented again. The app should not be relied on as the only copy of information that matters to the claimant.

10. Charges

Let It Be Known version 1.0 is provided without a paid subscription or paid upgrade. The app does not ask for payment-card details. If a paid arrangement is introduced, the app and these terms will be updated before it becomes available, and any required App Store purchase terms will apply.

11. Wellbeing and urgent circumstances

Let It Be Known is intended for small matters and gentle acknowledgement. It is not suitable for emergencies or as a substitute for professional help. A welfare notice is a signpost, not an assessment or ongoing support service. A person in danger or immediate distress should contact local emergency services or an appropriate qualified service.

12. Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains what information is processed, the use of Firebase and Anthropic, public inspection, retention, rights and deletion. It forms part of the terms on which the service is provided.

13. Closing a file

A claimant may request account closure in Department Records. Closure begins the deletion process described in the Privacy Policy and cannot be undone after it completes. Limited security, moderation, legal and provider-backup records may remain where reasonably necessary or legally required.

We may restrict or close a file that materially or repeatedly breaches these terms. Where appropriate and lawful, we will give notice of the reason and any available way to raise a concern.

14. Responsibility

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or rights that cannot be excluded under consumer law.

Subject to that, Let It Be Known is provided for personal and ceremonial use. We are not responsible for a claimant treating a certificate as legal, medical or professional advice; for disputes arising from information the claimant chooses to submit or publish; for material shared outside the app after a share export; or for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the claimant agreed to these terms.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the app, law, security or service providers. Material changes will be brought to claimants' attention where appropriate. Continued use after the stated effective date means the updated terms apply, but this does not remove rights that arose before the change or rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. A claimant who is a consumer retains any mandatory protections and right to bring proceedings available under the law of the country in which they live. Nothing in this section limits a right that cannot lawfully be limited.
